Matt Lorito
Retired NHL Hockey Player, 2x AHL All-Star, Calder Cup Champion and Brown University Captain.
dMatt's journey to the NHL was one of persistence, hard work and dedication. As a typical late bloomer, he was not drafted in either the OHL or NHL drafts, and was recruited late by only a couple of NCAA D1 schools. After a decorated 4 years at Brown University, Matt was offered an AHL contract with the Albany Devils. The next year he was offered an NHL contract with the Detroit Red Wings after a successful rookie season in the AHL. He started the season in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins where he led the team in points and was named to the AHL All-Star Team. Matt made his NHL debut on April 17, 2017 against the Montreal Canadiens and tallied an assist. He went on to win the Calder Cup with Grand Rapids that year as well. His professional playing career spanned 8 years across the NHL, AHL, KHL, SHL and DEL before retiring in the summer of 2022. He now works as a Pro Scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Matt has studied the game his entire life and is passionate about helping players achieve their goals through mentorship, video analysis and skill development.
